Biosphere es el sistema internacional de gestión y reconocimiento en sostenibilidad del Instituto de Turismo Responsable (ITR). El estándar de trabajo del sistema Biosphere, es la única metodología del mundo creada como resultado de las 4 cumbres patrocinadas por la UNESCO y la OMT durante el año Internacional del Turismo Sostenible, para trabajar en base a los 17 Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (17 ODS), y con indicadores elaborados conjuntamente con la SDSN-Spain.
Nacido en 1995 tras la primera Carta Mundial de Turismo Sostenible, con un MoU con la UNESCO y orgulloso miembro fundador del Consejo Global de Turismo Sostenible (GSTC), el ITR tiene la misión de trasladar los objetivos universalmente acordados en las Cumbres y Cartas internacionales a todas las sociedades y los actores que forman parte: administraciones, instituciones y empresas públicas y privadas, ciudadanía y visitantes.
